With the winters heralding cruel cold temperatures, it has become even vital that people are protected from the crippling cold, especially at night and on the roads. While night shelters, ‘Rain Baseras’, have been functioning for a while in the city, there still are many homeless people who are unable to reach them and seek shelter.
That moots the question, what can we do to help? For starters, you can call on the helpline and aid the destitute living on the roads reach a night shelter. District Commissionerate Suryapal Gangwar has announced the functioning of helpline service — 0522-4523000 — which you can reach out at between 6 PM – 8 AM. Once you make a call, municipal teams will show up and take the needy to the night shelter.
Along with this, the city police will also aid in transferring the people to the shelters. For the same purpose, Dial 112 has also been linked to the night shelters in Lucknow.
These baseras will also be cleaned and improved amenities will be provided here.
