Now you can get a health checkup & catch a train, at the Lucknow Jn. Railway Station

The Indian Railways have been going through a massive overhaul recently, with new trains, modern amenities and better connectivity. In attempts to make the rail journey safer, and to make sure that the residents of Lucknow are fit and aware of their health, the Northern Railways have installed two health ATMs at the Lucknow Junction Railway Station.

Much like the normal ATMs from where you can withdraw money at any time, these health ATMs can give you information about your well-being; even while you're at the railway station.

What's the update?

These Health ATMs put in place by the Northern Railway are small kiosks setups where you can simply get upto 16 health check-ups done in under 50-100 bucks. The health checkups will take nothing over 9-15 minutes per person depending on the kind of check-up you opt for.

Lucknow is the first city in UP to get the health ATM facility and similar kiosks have been planned to set-up at Bareilly and Moradabad railway stations.

What are the available tests?

Each Health ATM has a number of tests that can be done in a few minutes and is staffed by a trained medical attendant. The kiosks have been set-up with integrated medical devices for checking basic vitals, neurology, cardiology, gynaecology, pulmonary testing, basic laboratory testing and emergency facilities.

From getting your blood pressure and oxygen saturation checked, to getting a measure of your body weight, body mass index, hydration, bone mass, haemoglobin, temperature, pulse rate and blood glucose among other things, the kiosks can tell you all.

The kiosks have been put in place to make sure that those who are in the need of medical attention, get the required help and can decide whether or not to go through with their rail journey.

Knock Knock

The health ATMs are an initiative taken under the 'Fit India' movement and aims to make people healthier. These kiosks have been reported to be used by 50-60 people on the daily basis and can work as a great facility during an emergency situation.
