The city of Lucknow saw a shift in its weather, as strong winds swept through during the evening. This was accompanied by a dust storm and a light rainshower, causing a delay in the ongoing World Cup match at Ekana Stadium between Australia and Sri Lanka.

Additionally, later in the night, heavy rainfall occurred. As a result, the city's maximum temperature today dropped to 29°C, which is 2 degrees lower than yesterday's maximum. The weather has now turned pleasantly cool, offering some relief to the city-ites.

UPPCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the state amid festive season

In a bid to support puja pandals and religious sites across all districts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly during the Navratri season, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is now committed to providing continuous and uninterrupted power supply. The department will also deploy teams of engineers to these locations to closely monitor the power supply systems.

Votesmart Lucknow portal launched for registering new voters

In a move aimed at boosting the engagement of first-time voters in the upcoming 2024 general elections, the Lucknow district administration has introduced a dedicated registration portal.

The portal called, 'Votesmart Lucknow,' is specifically designed for students aged 18 and above to easily register and have their names included in the electoral rolls. Once the registration process is finalized, the individuals will receive their voter IDs conveniently delivered to their doorsteps via postal mail.

UP Lifts and Escalators Act, 2023 to be implemented to ensure safety of passengers

Accidents and misshaps involving vertical transportation systems, such as lifts and escalators, are unfortunately widespread. Consequently, there is a pressing need for specific regulations to enhance the safety of individuals using these systems.

To address this concern, the state government has unveiled the draft of the UP Lifts and Escalators Act, 2023. This legislation will introduce key measures such as special insurance for passengers utilizing vertical transportation, compulsory scheduled maintenance and other safety protocols.

UP basic education dept. to upgrade schools near Indo-Nepal border

Following the announcement of the initiative to create model schools in UP, featuring modern campuses in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the State's Basic Education Department is extending its efforts to enhance government schools situated along the Indo-Nepal border.

To facilitate this development, the Basic Education Department has allocated a budget of approximately ₹8.5 crore. This funding will be utilized to upgrade a total of 9 designated schools in the region.
