Special flats in the city for accommodating senior citizens
LDA plans to construct 7-storey senior citizen apartments in Gomti Nagar. These apartments, with a carpet area ranging from 500 to 600 sq. ft., will offer comprehensive amenities to ensure safety and convenience for the elderly. Eligibility for leasing will be restricted to individuals aged 60 and above who are residing away from their families.
Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat excluded from the proposed plan of developing UP SCR region
The UP government has recently made revisions to the proposed state capital region (SCR) development plan, centred in Lucknow. The SCR will now encompass Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Unnao, and Rae Bareli, while Kanpur and Kanpur Dehat have been excluded. This adjustment reduces the SCR’s area from 34,002 sq km to 28,826 sq km.
‘Krishi Kumbh’ event to be organised for nationwide farmers in Lucknow
Lucknow is gearing up to host a significant agriculture event called ‘Krishi Kumbh’ in December of this year. The event, organized by the Indian Sugarcane Research Institute (ISRI), is expected to attract approximately two lakh farmers from both India and abroad. ‘Krishi Kumbh’ will offer opportunities for promotion, information exchange, technology exhibits, and other resources to support farmers and agriculturalists.
UP secondary schools to offer self-defence training for girls
The UP government plans to introduce self-defense training programs for girls in 1,981 secondary schools across the state. This training will be provided in most state-run schools and selected private schools.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Lucknow recently shared a tweet stating that the physical progress of the remodelling of Gomti Nagar railway station has reached 70%. The new station, which is being built to accommodate enhanced load, and to reduce passanger traffic from the Charbagh station will also be an energy efficient project.
Automated weather stations to be installed in various UP districts
The meteorological department aims to enhance the accuracy of weather data for the public by installing specialized weather tracking devices across all regions of UP. Special teams have been assigned for this task, and a total of 450 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and 2000 Automatic Rain Gauges (ARG) will be installed throughout the state.
AI integration in CCTV traffic systems of Lucknow, deemed efficient with accurate results
Recently, Lucknow Smart City Limited integrated the AI-enabled Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for the CCTV monitoring in the city.
This allowed the high-end hardware consisting high-speed cameras and infrared flashes to capture clear images of vehicles found breaking traffic rules. Now, with the help of the system, the traffic officials have caught a total of 25 flouters, against which further action will be taken.
