ODOP to get a boost at G20 Summit in Lucknow; Indigenous items to be presented as gifts

G20 guests in Lucknow will see exquisite craftsmanship of ODOP items from various districts

The much awaited G20 Summit is almost here and Lucknow is being decked up in its honour. The grand event will see the participation of representatives arriving from 20 countries and this would be the perfect platform to promote the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.

Trademark or symbolic indigenous products from various UP districts will be presented to the esteemed G20 delegates visiting Lucknow between February 13-15. For instance, brass wall hangings, cufflinks formed of shazar stones, diyas, silk stoles, marble inlay coasters, and so on, would be gifted to the senior officials.

Vocal for local

One of the grandest spaces to join in the 'vocal for local' clamour, this move will help uplift local artisans and skilled tribal craftsmen. At the same time, it will promote sustainability since these hand-crafted products are made from the scratch and are environment-friendly.

Aside from this, numerous enthralling cultural events, including folk dances and music programmes, have been lined up to welcome guests to the Nawabi city with open arms. Efforts have been put in to make the officials' three day long stay memorable in the Uttar Pradesh capital.

As per plans, the delegates will also be taken for a stimulating tour to the architectural and historical marvels of the city, like Residency and Bada Imambara, on February 14. Folk dancers from Uttarakhand, Kathak and Bharatnatyam dancers, besides some renowned artistes and performers, have been called especially for the entertainment of the G20 party.

Important affairs in February

Besides, the UP Diwas exhibition set up at Lucknow's Awadh Shilpgram has in its embrace 75 UP districts assembled together under one roof. Here, too, exquisite trademark products from all state districts have found their representation.

The month of February will see two crucial affairs taking place in Lucknow, the Global Investors Summit from February 10-12 where more than 10,000 entrepreneurs are likely to participate, followed by G20 Conference from February 13-15.
