On fast track mode: Lucknow’s Airport Metro Station gets final touches!

Final touches are being given to Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport Metro Station and very soon will be open for the people. The CCS airport metro station is probably one of the most crucial metro station of the entire North South corridor that is expected to be made operational by Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation by April this year.

It was reported that the managing director of LMRC, Kumar Keshav, inspected the station and reviewed the progress that has been happening. The CCS Airport metro station is built on a vast sprawling property which is significantly large compared to any other metro station. LMRC plans on giving priority to safety and convenience of the commuters hence it has payed special attention to the placement of emergency doors and various other public amenities. For example the lifts installed in the airport metro station can carry twice the amount of people than regular lift, 26 to be precise while other lifts can carry only up to 13 people.

Amenities for Specially Abled

The most unique and distinguishing feature of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Aiport Metro station is that it has been made accessible for the specially abled people. Various additional facilities have been added to the infrastructure to make it as accessible for the commuters as possible.

Two additional ramps have been constructed one each at entry and exit to facilitate the movement of differently abled commuters, the construction work for special toilets has also been completed. Wheel chairs will also be provided at the metro stations and special staff will also be present to take care of the specially abled passengers.

North South Corridor So Far

Lucknow Metro recently completed it’s first trial run on the North-South corridor, (Munshipulia to Airport). The metro stretch is 23 kilometers long and still under construction, but the work is expected to finish by April.

Starting from Munshipulia the stations would be, Indira Nagar, R S Mishra Nagar, Lekhraj Market, Badshah Nagar, IT Chauraha, Vishvavidyalay, K D Singh Stadium, Hazratganj, Sachivalaya, Husain Ganj, Charbagh, Durgapuri, Mawaiya, Alambagh Bus Station, Alambagh, Singar Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Transport Nagar, Amausi and would finally terminate at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport.

The priority route from Charbagh to Transport Nagar which has eight stations, is already operational since 2017. The rest of 13 stations are expected to be operational soon, after which commuters would have to spend hardly 40 minutes to reach from Munshipulia to CCS Airport.
