UP vaccination program leaps forward with over 50 lakh fully vaccinated citizens!

In a notable achievement, the vaccination drives across Uttar Pradesh have been successful in ensuring double-dose immunisation of over half a crore citizens. As per records, 50.14 lakh individuals in the state are completely inoculated against the deadly virus while the CoWIN portal indicates that more than 3.35 crore jabs have been administered in the state, so far. On Monday, the state vaccination numbers marked a significant spike with the inoculation of over 8.38 lakh people.

According to official logs, 2,84,91,974 individuals have been given at least the first dose in the state. Besides, 50,14,017 citizens have received both jabs of the immunity booster vaccine. In addition to this, statistics indicate that only 3.5% of the total targeted population of 14 crore individuals have been doubly inoculated in the state.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh is the fourth territory to enter the group of states, where more than 50 lakh people are fully vaccinated. This list is led by Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal with 69.87 lakh, 60.82 lakh and 56.75 lakh fully vaccinated individuals, respectively. Next to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka take the subsequent spots.

Cluster vaccination drives propel the program in the state

As per government officials, cluster inoculation schedules have been one of the strongest drivers of vaccination in the state. While the issues of lacking technology and inadequate transport facilities were hampering the state's vaccination program, cluster drives have successfully enhanced the accessibility of the vaccines. As a result of this, the state achieved the maximum vaccination count of 8.63 lakh beneficiaries on June 24 and the second-highest tally was recorded on Monday

Additional chief secretary (ACS), health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said, "The cluster model has been launched across the state and there is visible enthusiasm for vaccination now. However, it is important to remember that the vaccine does not give the license to ignore Covid-19 appropriate behaviour."

Lucknow & Prayagraj, the only 2 cities with double-digit new infections

Currently, only 6 cities in Uttar Pradesh have more than 75 active patients, which include Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Meerut and Varanasi. While no new case was reported across 40 districts in the state on Monday, Gorakhpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad and Sultanpur logged more than 5 cases. Besides, Lucknow and Prayagraj were the only cities with double-digit fresh infections.

Bringing extended respite for the state, the infection graph is dipping consistently and the recovery rate is improving on the other hand. As of now, Uttar Pradesh has 2,181 active cases.
