An FIR will be filed against vehicles that are left in public parking lots for more than 24 hours

Under the ambit of Road Safety Month, LMC implements two new parking laws in Lucknow. As per the notice issued by LMC, motorists in Lucknow will not be allowed to park their vehicles at the Nagar Nigam and LDA parking lots for more than 24 hours. Other than this, another law passed by LMC, aims at making the city roads safe and free of parked vehicles.

No-parking for more than 24 hrs at LMC & LDA parking lots

As per the reports, an FIR will be lodged against vehicle owners who have left their vehicles parked in these spaces over the stipulated time period. A parking-in-charge will also be deployed at all parking spaces to keep track of the same.

Notably, the decision of no parking over 24 hours was sound by DM Abhishek Prakash in a meeting held in the Collectorate Auditorium recently. Lucknow Nagar Nigam has already identified about 72 parking spaces in the city. Of these, a list of about 45 has been made where the project will be launched first.

  • Verification drive to check parking lot users' monthly parking passes will also be conducted.

  • New arrangements for separate parking will be made, based on the parking load.

  • Boards of parking-fee and the constrained time-limits will be put up at the parking spaces.

  • Inspection will be conducted every three days.

As per the new law, private car owners in Lucknow will have to pay an annual fee ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 to park their vehicles on road overnight. The proposal was approved by LMC officials during the announcement of the budget. Additionally, an annual parking fee will also be levied from commercial vehicles including, E-rickshaw, autorickshaw, tempos, buses and other commercial vehicles.

Features:

  • Annual night parking fee for ordinary private vehicles is set at ₹2,500.

  • For luxury private vehicles, ₹4,000.

  • Buses and trucks will be charged, ₹6,000.

  • Mini buses and trucks, ₹5,000.

  • Small freight vehicles, ₹4,000.

Additionally, the annual fee for mobile food vans in the city has also been increased to ₹24,000 from the previous ₹18,000. Other than this, annual fee for big food van operating in the city has now been increased to ₹36,000 from earlier ₹28,000.

These new additions to the city's road safety mission are aimed at addressing public convenience by ensuring monitored parking spaces, regulated road encroachment and movement of commercial vehicles. This will in turn work as corrective measure.
