UP's best-kept secret: Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary

The Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled in Bahraich district, stands as a hidden gem in Uttar Pradesh. Often underrated, it's a mere 200 km from Lucknow, strategically linking the tiger habitats of Dudhwa and Kishanpur in Nepal.

Spanning 400 sq. kms, the sanctuary features picturesque forests and tranquil water streams from the Ghaghra river. Home to a captivating array of wildlife, including gharials, rhinos, Gangetic dolphins, swamp deer, hispid hare, Bengal florican, as well as the White-backed and Long-billed vultures, the park is a true haven for nature enthusiasts.

Adding to its allure, the sanctuary's strategic connection to other prominent national parks results in a remarkably high rate of tiger sightings during jungle safaris.
