Khelo India University Games are coming to Uttar Pradesh this year in May. The event will be held in 4 different cities and the opening ceremony will take place in Lucknow on May 25. The 10-day games will feature over 4000 athletes and a total of 7500 Under-27 participants from universities across India. The closing ceremony, on the other hand, will be held in Varanasi.
1200 Sports staff, 1300 volunteers to oversee arrangements
Preparations are underway to make Khelo India Games in UP a flawless hit with a slew of measures to ensure maximum security and convenience for the participants. This includes help desks for the athletes at railway stations, airports and bus stands and a strict adherence to all the COVID protocols.
Furthermore, the training for volunteers and the technical staff has already begun with a focus on making the event a safe place, especially for women participants and athletes. A helpline number has also been issued that the athletes can dial up in case they need any sort of assistance during the 10-day games.
School Children will be invited to watch the game
School children from across the state will also be invited to watch the Khelo India Games and facilities have been readied keeping in mind the rising temperatures. Concerned authorities have already reviewed all the preparations for the games which can prove to be a great opportunity for university students from across the country to showcase their talent.
