Amid anticipations of an upcoming third wave and its expected effect on children, the state government is trying to ensure that no lag leads to an amplified risk of infection. So far, while a streamlined multi-dimensional action plan against the Delta Plus variant is being formulated, focus on measures at the district level for mitigating the possibilities of an unprecedented outbreak has been deemed important.

Subsequently, samples have to be collected across the districts, that are located in close proximity to the states with cases of Delta Plus variant. Thereafter, the presence of the new mutant will be checked through proper genome sequencing.

Additionally, testing drives are being conducted at bus stands, railway stations and airports while the setting up of PICU/NICU wards has been accelerated too. Further, the medical centres have been asked to amp up the availability of all essential devices like BPAP machines, X-Ray equipment amongst other things.
