‘Run today for greener tomorrow’: Join the 10-km marathon by Lucknow Super Giants on March 17
In an eco-conscious move, UP's own IPL team Lucknow Super Giants is hosting a 10-km marathon on March 17. With a catchy tagline and theme ‘Run today for greener tomorrow’, the marathon aims at spreading awareness around environment-related issues. One can register for the marathon via Book My Show.
P.S. Every runner here will get an LSG fan jersey, sustainable LSG cloth drawstring bags, plantable bibs and lunch boxes. For all participants that make it to the finish line, provision of finisher medals and e-certificates will be taken care of by the organisers.
All you need to know about the green marathon
The annual green marathon is not just your average marathon. Here, the winner can bag up to ₹10 lakh. In the open category, winners of men and women’s categories will receive up to ₹1 lakh. At the same time, the first runner-up and second runner-up will receive ₹75,000 and ₹50,000 respectively. The winners will also get introduced to the IPL team!
The run will be flagged off by, none other than, LSG team members. Check out the details of the marathon:
Race Categories:
10K Challenge (Timed event)
Reporting time: 5:15 AM
Flag off time: 5:45 AM
5K Fun Run (Non-Timed event)
Reporting time: 5:45 AM
Flag off time: 6:15 AM
A fun run will will also be hosted for children of ages 8-15, in the presence of their parents or guardians, on the occasion.
Cash prizes for 10K challenge winners:
Open Category: Male and Female
Winner – Rs 1,00,000
1st Runner Up – Rs 75,000
2nd Runner Up – Rs 50,000
Top 3 -10k finishers, men and women, falling within the age groups shall be eligible for the following prize money:
Winner – Rs 25,000
1st Runner Up – Rs 17,500
2nd Runner Up – Rs 12,500
Age groups (age as of March 17, 2024)
15 years to 24 years: Male and Female
25 years to 34 years: Male and Female
35 years to 44 years: Male and Female
45 years to 54 years: Male and Female
55 years and above Male and Female
