Sitting tall through tides of time, here’s how 82-YO King Of Chaat still delights its patrons!

Set up in 1941, King of Chaat stands as one of the oldest street food shops in Lucknow.

A chaat shop standing since the time when India hadn't even gained Independence — that is Lucknow's legendary King of Chaat for you. Now run by the 3rd and 4th generations, this iconic little shop finds roots in the city and is the only one here in the entire country.

With time, King Of Chaat has evolved, adapted, and stood true to its name, serving as the biggest and most lavish of functions and weddings all over.

In conversation with King Of Chaat folks:

Set up in 1941, King of Chaat is one of the oldest street food shops in Lucknow. And till date you will find foodies flocking to the kiosk in herds. The operations begin around 5 PM, and before 8 PM, all the food items are finished. Tucked away outside Sarojini Naidu Park, the shop caters to almost 300 visitors per day.

Along with their delicious Mattar ki Tikki, oozing with flavours, King of Chaat has several options that continue winning hearts today. Their Kesar Gujiya, marked at ₹80, is one of the most sought-after desserts in Ganj, while the Pani Ke Batashe here (₹20 for 4 pieces) is something to die for.

In a hearty conversation with the owner Arjun Tandon, Knocksense found out, "King of Chaat takes proper care of hygiene," he shared.

"While we serve food items in an eco-friendly plate made of dried leaves, the water we use is boiled properly. You can go to any place elsewhere and we guarantee you will not find the golgappe water we make. We also don't use any ready-made element from outside. We make everything at home, from scratch," he emphasised on the hygiene factor.

"From Chattisgarh to Delhi, Bombay, Kolkata, King of Chaat has served guests all over India. We have also put up a stall at Gateway of Mumbai and Taj and have been appreciated there," throwing light on the diversification of King of Chaat, he added.

For delicious and neat-clean chaat, head to the kiosk today and discover the magic of one of Lucknow's oldest chaat shops!

P.S. They take only cash payment so do carry loose change with you.

If you want to avoid the crowds, you can also place your orders via Zomato or Swiggy. However, we do recommend the joy of visiting the renowned shop and taking in the experience yourself!
