What’s the update?

The names of the crossings include Samta Mulak, Harauni, Utrethiya Bridge, Pakri Bridge, Latif Nagar and IIM crossing. The steps are taken to make sure that accident prone areas have an access to prompt medical assistance.

The Facts

A recent report on road safety brought out by the regional transport office (RTO) identified Samta Mulak, Harauni, Utrethiya Bridge, Pakri Bridge, Latif Nagar and IIM crossings as one of the most accident prone areas. The report also says that between 2015-2017, over 50 people have been killed in road accidents and mishaps near these places.

Why is it important?

The move is extremely important considering that the report calls these crossings ‘black spots’ and specifies that these crossings cannot be widened, the only way to deal with casualties is with the ambulances.

Knock Knock

The health department has already deployed over 60 ambulances all over Lucknow to deal with emergencies and road accidents but the said ambulances will be specifically dealing with accident prone areas. Since the traffic management of the city is in shambles, people seldom follow any traffic rules and speeding and overtaking are usual activities, the presence of these ambulances will provide immense relief to people.
