Amidst sweltering conditions, Lucknow reached a scorching 45.3°C on Friday, marking its highest June temperature in 7 years. Adding to this, the capital experienced its warmest June day in half a decade, registering 44.7°C on June 12. Further, according to Lucknow's documented weather records, the city had experienced its highest June day temperature, at 47.7°C, back in 1966.

The forecasts indicate mainly clear skies with strong surface winds of 20-30 km/h. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected around 45°C and 32°C, respectively.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heatwave to severe heatwave conditions, likely during midday and afternoon hours across Uttar Pradesh. Due to dry westerly winds and intense solar radiation, heat wave conditions prevailed on Friday, with severe heat waves in some northern and southern parts of eastern UP.

However, respite from the scorching heat may arrive after June 17 with expected cloud cover and rains in eastern areas, due to moist easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal.
