93 government-run hospitals of UP get NQAS accreditation
Adding to its list of accolades, Uttar Pradesh's public healthcare framework has once again managed to achieve another noteworthy feat. Reportedly, as many as 93 hospitals across 46 districts of the state have been awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certificate from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Among the hospitals which were certified recently, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital in Hazratganj, Lucknow, District Combined Hospital in Meerut and a health and wellness centre in Sultanpur have been accredited by MoHFW.
What is NQAS certification?
The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Program launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) with the aim of recognizing good-performing facilities as well as improving the credibility of public hospitals in the community. The NQAS certificate is issued for District Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and Urban PHCs.
Notably, the certification is awarded on the basis of 8 parameters hospital management including Service Provision, Patient Rights, Inputs, Support Services, Clinical Care, Infection Control, Quality Management and Outcome.
Furthermore, hospitals which seek NQAS certification undergo a stringent assessment process, which includes a site visit by trained assessors.
