Tourism & Archeology Departments in UP to start a 6-month certificate course for tourist guides

The UP state Archeology and Tourism Depts. have proposed to initiate the course in light of the growing prospects of tourism in the state.

With a motive to train tour guides for various historical sites in UP, the State Departments of Archeology and Tourism will jointly start a six-month certificate course. Those who will complete this course will be able to work as guides.

As a joint initiative, the Tourism Department will provide appropriate infrastructure and facilities for conducting the classes while the Archeology Department will provide teachers under the course.

The UP state Archeology and Tourism Departments have proposed to initiate the certificate course in light of the growth prospects of tourism in the state.

Reportedly, the Assistant Archaeological Officer, of UP Archaeological Department, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Trivedi said, "The objective of this course will be to equip trained guides with the necessary knowledge to effectively educate tourists about the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh."

Notably, this course will have a capacity of 20 seats and will be open to graduate candidates. As per the officials, the proposal for the course will be submitted to the government for approval, following which the course will be commenced.
