Authorities in Lucknow have planned on installing underground power cables as a solution to remove the high-risk webs of electrical wires blocking the skies on Nadan Mahal Road. LESA will provide underground power supply chains extending over a length of 1 km and the department will spend an approximate amount of ₹10 crores on this project. In addition to this, the dilapidated poles lying in the region will also be changed.
Over 20,000 residents to be benefitted with improved electricity supply
It is expected that 20,000 electricity consumers of Asharfabad, Billouchpura Road, Nehru Cross and other areas will get relief from power cuts and low voltage, with this move. Notably, Nadal Mahal Road passes through a commercial area and the hanging bunch of wires depreciates the look of the area and it also heightens the possibility of dangerous events. In the past, fires have been witnessed in the area on multiple occasions due to short circuits.
Additionally, transformers have blown up due to increased demand for electricity and long power cuts of 6 to 8 hours have been observed in the region. In view of these problems, it was incumbent upon the authorities to take the needed actions. Thereby, the officials of the construction block are going to replace the dilapidated wires.
A move to beautify the locals & prevent accidents
Once the proposed plans turn into reality, the consumers in this region will be benefitted from reduced power cuts and resolved voltage fluctuations. Further, the dampened probability of short circuits will help in mitigating fire accidents in the future and the transformer blows will also be prevented. Additionally, the view of the roads will be completely revamped after the shabby and worn-out poles are removed.
Notably, LESA started the work of underground electricity systems in Aminabad and Chowk in the year 2015. Despite this, the project is still incomplete in the Nazirabad area. Now, the officials will try to speed up the interventions so that the scheme is operational as soon as possible.
