The Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh have reopened on November 1 for the 2025-26 season, marking an exciting start with an earlier-than-usual opening, two weeks ahead of the typical mid-November timeline.
Adding to the enthusiasm, a new and affordable AC bus service has been launched between Lucknow and Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. These initiatives by the Uttar Pradesh government aim to boost local tourism while supporting wildlife conservation.
New safari routes, AC Bus service, and fee adjustments
The new Lucknow to Dudhwa bus service, launched today (November 4), offers a convenient travel option for wildlife enthusiasts. The 2×2 AC bus departs from Qaiserbagh bus stand at 8:00 AM and arrives in Dudhwa around 2:30 PM. The return journey begins at 8:00 PM. The fare is ₹487 for the 227 km route.
The early reopening of the Dudhwa National Park extends the wildlife viewing season, giving visitors extra time to explore its famous tiger and rhino populations before the harsh winter sets in. With foliage still sparse, wildlife sightings are easier and more rewarding. To enrich the experience, two new safari routes, one in Nishangarha, Katarniaghat, and another in Dudhwa, have been introduced. The park is also expanding its accommodation options to meet growing demand, though fees have been adjusted to support conservation efforts.
Visitors should be aware of a slight increase in entry and camera fees, which will help fund ongoing conservation efforts:

The region celebrates a grand reopening, with both Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve welcoming tourists on November 1. After a six-month hiatus, Katarniaghat reopened, inviting visitors to explore its rich biodiversity and serene landscapes across seven ranges, including Motipur, Kakraha, and Nishangarh. The sanctuary is home to tigers, leopards, rhinos, wild elephants, and more.
Similarly, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve reopened its gates, offering wildlife lovers the chance to spot tigers and leopards, admire migratory birds along the Sharda River, and immerse themselves in the untouched wilderness. With safaris now in full swing, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with nature’s wild beauty.
