In an attempt to revamp the academic ecosystem, a ‘realisation curriculum’ will be introduced in 150 schools across Lucknow and 14 other districts of Uttar Pradesh. Under the pilot project starting from the 2022-2023 session, students of grades 1 to 5 will take part in activities related to ‘realisation curriculum’. As a part of this initiative, students will get to learn about the fundamentals of a happy and peaceful life.
A core team of 30 members to finalise the ‘realisation curriculum’ draft
Media expert, Saurabh Malviya, has been designated as the nodal officer for this new scheme. As per the given information, he will collect the teachers for chalking out the course of further action. In addition to this, he will also organise a physical workshop and thereafter, a core team of 30 members will be chosen for finalising the plans under realisation curriculum.
It has been informed that the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will decide upon the contents before the textbooks are printed. The latest scheme will be executed in Varanasi, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Siddhartha Nagar, Prayagraj, Amethi, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Moradabad, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi and Chitrakoot from the 2022 session.

Shravan Kumar Shukla, an Uttar Pradesh government school teacher from Gorakhpur, who was the core member of the happiness curriculum in Delhi, has been roped in by the state administration. Having spent 4 years in Delhi on deputation, he returned to his home state this January this year. He will apprise the teachers about the basics of this curriculum during the upcoming brainstorming session scheduled, later this week.
“Like any other subject, students will have a ‘realisation’ period every day. Much like getting well-versed in subjects like English, mathematics or history, students also need to lead a happy and peaceful life. This ‘realisation curriculum’ is just a stepping stone towards establishing a better, positive and vibrant society,” he said. Interestingly, the happiness curriculum garnered appreciation from the then-US First Lady Melania Trump during her Delhi visit.
Activities like reflective storytelling to be a part of the curriculum
The Gorakhpur teacher informed that the objective of the initiative is to equip students with ways to ensure sustainable happiness through umpteen activities like reflective storytelling.
He said, “Happiness is key to all relationships. Since childhood, I have believed that all human beings share similar values. Sadly, instead of nourishing those human values, the education system today has put happiness on the backburner.” Now, the realisation curriculum will add the refreshing elements to the education system required to lead a wholesome life.
