UP's first table top airport to come up in Chitrakoot

The Chitrakoot Airport will also be Bundelkhand's first airport

The state's first table top airport, Chitrakoot Airport in Uttar Pradesh is now all set for inauguration. As the name table top suggests, the airport will be located on top of a hill or plateau. The estimated cost of the construction is ₹146 crore.

“The Chitrakoot airport will be the first operational airport in Bundelkhand. It will be managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) as an outcome of an agreement between UP government and AAI. After getting license from DGCA, 20-seater aircrafts will also start flying from here under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme,” said tourism principal secretary Mukesh Meshram.

Chitrakoot holds tremendous religious significance, due to the name first being mentioned in Valmiki's Ramayana and it being a place of dwelling for Lord Rama.

The new tourist hub

UP governement reportedly plans on turning Chitrakoot into a beautiful landscape. More and more infrastructure projects have transformed the place into a tourist hub and many are in the pipeline.

The Chitrakoot ropeway attracts huge tourist footfalls. And soon, you can visit places here via Bundelkhand expressway by road or air!
