UP's Scouts and Guides programme set to make way into Primary & Upper Primary Schools this year

Each district will also form at least one Scout Guide Band at the block level.

The Uttar Pradesh State Government is gearing up to unveil an initiative aimed at nurturing both the physical and mental abilities of students. The 'Scouts and Guides' programme will make its entrance into primary schools, spanning from Class 1 to 8 statewide.

Education Director Pratap Singh Baghel has directed officials to ensure the registration of at least one unit in each council school, with 25 members in each. This will be applicable for Classes 1 to 5, before the start of the new academic year.

Likewise, every council school from Class 6 to 8 will establish at least one unit comprising 32 members. The number of units can be increased in proportion with the number of students in the schools.

Moreover, schools lacking trained unit leaders will send teachers for a 7-day residential training program organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Uttar Pradesh. Initially, 50 teachers per district will be selected for this training.

Students will receive a set of school uniforms and the Scouts and Guides attire, funded through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme. Additionally, each district will form at least one Scout Guide Band at the block level, with competitions to be held at both district and inter-district levels.
