Uttar Pradesh vaccinates 70% of targetted individuals, Lucknow lags behind with 63.14%

Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to vaccinate over 5.5 lakh individuals.

Given its enterprising approach towards handling the COVID-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh has successfully inoculated over 5.5 lakh people in its territory. It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to register this feat. As per reports received from the state's health department, Uttar Pradesh has recorded a target achievement rate of nearly 70% in its COVID vaccination drive till Thursday.

5.89 lakh health workers vaccinated out of targetted 8.44 individuals

The health department informed in a notice that about 5.89 lakh health workers were immunised against coronavirus in the state against a cumulative target of 8.44 lakh individuals till Thursday. The Additional Chief Secretary of the Health and Family welfare affirmed that the state is the first in the country to vaccinate such a humongous number of individuals.

The official spokesperson from the department was quoted as saying, "Of the total 5.89 lakh persons vaccinated so far, 1,25,308 health workers were immunised on Thursday. Keeping the day's target of 1,72,396 in mind, the turnout was 72.69 per cent which is exemplary for a state like UP." He further informed that a total of 1607 designated vaccination schedules have taken place across the state in which the health workers received one of the two available jabs of Covishield & Covaxin. The booster dose for the individuals vaccinated on Thursday would be administered on March 4.

Gonda records 115% target attainment rate, first in the state

The top five districts in the state that have the highest rates of target attainment for the inoculation drive include Gonda, with a target achievement rate of 115%, Sambhal (101 %), Unnao (99.4 %), Sant Kabir Nagar (99 %) and Firozabad (96.27 %). Among the states that lagged behind in attaining the target by high margins are Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aligarh, Kasganj, Bulandshahr and Agra. Lucknow, the capital of the state has vaccinated 63.14% of the targetted individuals.

The state is bound to witness the start of vaccination for the frontline workers on Friday. The general manager of the immunisation wing of the National Health Mission told that the left-over health staff would be vaccinated in the upcoming sessions.

Uttar Pradesh has registered a cumulative patient tally of 6,00,970 covid affect individuals while the active cases dripped to a count of 4,629 on Friday. Though the state has witnessed 8,680 fatalities owing to COVID-19, it has managed a significantly good recovery rate standing at 97.80%. Lucknow is the city with the highest number of active cases in the state with 1,122 patients.
