Keeping in sight the rising covid cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a decision to re-impose the previous restriction on the guest count at weddings and other social functions. Earlier in October, the limit was pushed to 200 with proper safety protocols in place but now, the count has been brought down to 100 yet again to keep a check on the resurgence of covid victims.
Officials are conducting random tests at the UP-Delhi border
With covid-19 cases rising again after the recent festive season, the state government is taking measures to curtail the spread of the virus and this imposition, is a part of the plan. As per a government spokesman, the Chief Minister, on Saturday night, requested all the district magistrates to ensure the restriction of 100 guests at weddings. The state home department has also issued a formal order in this regard, on Sunday.
The district magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar has already issued orders pertaining to this context and the state government has even started conducting random tests at the UP-Delhi border after Delhi reported a mass rise in the covid curve.
The Chief Minister has further asked officials to step up tracing, testing and treatment in order to identify the victims and to put a cap on the growth.
