Lucknow, Kanpur and other districts of Uttar Pradesh witnessed a decline in the number of active cases, whereby, the COVID curfew restrictions have been eased across the state. Most places have been permitted to open up during the weekdays for a certain time period, however, strict vigil and curfew are being maintained on weekends. Nonetheless, places of worship and industrial units have been allowed to function, under appropriate COVID protocols.
Maximum 5 devotees permitted inside religious places
Earlier, religious places were allowed to function only during weekdays, however, now these places shall stay open on Saturday and Sunday, as well. In order to ensure that crowds don’t gather unnecessarily at such places that are allowed to stay open on the weekend, COVID-appropriate guidelines have been released by the UP government.
Not more than 5 devotees will be permitted inside the places of worship, at a given time, and depending upon the area of the premises, a maximum of 50 people shall be allowed to enter the site. Further, according to the latest reports, industrial units can also function over the weekend.
A government spokesperson was quoted stating, “While the government has opened up most places from Monday, curfew will be imposed on weekends to ensure that the rate of COVID infection remains low. However, religious places and industrial units will be permitted to open during these two days. The police have to be polite and sympathetic. It will also ensure that there is no unnecessary crowding at any place.”
