The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) announced, “Through these, the work of collection of primary waste from homes and establishments can be done to the maximum extent.”
Apart from waste management, the garbage-collecting trucks are electric vehicles, the benefits of which are abundant. Some of these include low running and maintenance costs, mitigation of tailpipe emissions and, most importantly, aiding in preserving the environment through low impact emissions and zero noise pollution.
Other major provisions of the project comprise improving the handling and transportation of dry and wet waste to the designated processing sites and installation and operation of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and transfer stations. Moreover, the LSA will implement a systematic cleaning regimen to manage drainage.
In order to spread public awareness around efficient waste management practises, constant monitoring will be executed along with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities by LSA.
