Mumbai is a city like no other; it’s dynamic and always on the go. But the best part of living here, is that you always have an incredibly beautiful getaways nearby, to relax when the hustle gets too hard.

A place to recuperate, today we are going to talk about Silvassa. Here, you can experience the culmination of Portuguese traditions with Indian beliefs, just 166 km from Mumbai. Filled to the brim with fascinating historical places, jungle safari and amazing food, here are some activities you can indulge in on your trip here.

Silvassa is renowned for its resorts, lush greenery, manufacturing industries and tax-free alcohol. It is also a haven for those looking for handmade products, like Warli paintings and paper bags. So on your trip, you can expect a fulfilling session of retail therapy as well!

Silvassa is also home to two beautiful religious places with remarkable infrastructure. Visitors can check out the awe-inspiring Swaminarayan Temple, which is built on a large platform and accessible by stairs. And built by the Portuguese in the 18th century, folks can also head over to Silvassa’s Church of Our Lady of Piety. The church is noted for its imposing Gothic architecture and resemblance to Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia.

And if safari is your game, indulge in the trills of Vasona Lion Safari for a stimulating and FUN afternoon. Also, don’t forget to sit and admire the sun dipping into the calm Dudhni Lake while taking a boat ride here.

A much-loved vacay spot, Silvassa is home to a Tribal Museum as well, which exhibits ornaments, musical instruments, fishing tools and hunting gadgets – depicting the lifestyle and culture of Dadra and Nagar Haveli tribes. Appeasing isn’t it?!
