All postal services in Mumbai now available for 12 hours across 60 post offices
In order to increase access to key postal services in Mumbai, the Mumbai Post Office region announced a new 12-hour work routine for 60 post offices. This new rule will offer all the postal services till 8:00 PM, offering a window for Mumbaikars to avail the services even after their office hours.
12-hour work rule to increase accessibility of services
October 9, which was celebrated as World Post Day marked the launch of new round-the-clock services. Reportedly, 60 post offices, including, Andheri East So, Bandra West So, Borivali East So, Dadar HO, Kurla, Mahim and Malad, among others will be open for all types of services from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Other details of the post offices operating for 12 hours can be gathered by scanning the QR code available on the official pamphlet.
With the new regime in action, people can now make financial transactions during these times. Over 5,200 employees facilitate 2,62,867 transactions on an average daily and other postal services, making Mumbai postal department one of the busiest in the country.
Services like savings, bank transactions, multi-purpose counter machines and stamp sale & enquiry counters, which were earlier operated for five hours, six hours and eight hours respectively, will now be available for 12 hours.
Seamless and smooth service for citizens
The extended working hours of the post offices will offer a seamless and smooth experience for people who are busy due to their offices during the day. Additionally, it will also cater to the increased rush during the festive season. As per the press statement, the launch of the new service has been made permanent.
