Attention, car owners in Mumbai! Install new HSRP number plate by THIS date or pay fine
Mumbaikars will soon need to install High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, as per a new mandate from Maharashtra's Transport Department. The installation cost will range from ₹531 to ₹879, depending on the vehicle type. The payment link for this service was activated on Wednesday, and the price includes GST, snap lock, and a third registration mark sticker.
For two-wheelers and tractors, the cost is ₹531, while three-wheelers like auto-rickshaws will be charged ₹590. Larger vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks, and trailers will incur a fee of ₹879. The HSRP plates for two-wheelers and three-wheelers are priced at ₹219.9, while plates for four-wheeled vehicles cost ₹342.41. Additional charges include ₹10.18 for snap locks and ₹50 for the third registration mark.
Vehicle owners must comply before the March 31, 2025, deadline to avoid penalties. This initiative aims to enhance road safety, prevent vehicle theft, and improve vehicle traceability. HSRPs will be installed on both the front and rear sides of the vehicle, with four-wheeled vehicles also receiving a third registration mark on the windshield.
