Mumbai is one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the world, and it’s no surprise that it houses some of the best international restaurants too. Thus, we explored Heng Bok Korean Restaurant in Andheri West, known for its use of fresh ingredients, bold spices, zesty Korean flavours and diverse fermentation techniques! So get ready with your chopsticks, for we have all the deets.

A new lexis of deliciousness

There has never been a more exciting time for people to experience Korean fine dining in Mumbai, than now! In the last decade, talented young chefs have emerged in the city, pairing global techniques with familiar as well as unexplored Korean flavours. Additionally, these masterful creations are presented in sleek settings with top-notch service, at none other than Heng Bok.

In a conversation with Knocksense, Heng’s manager mentioned that they offer both Korean and Japanese fare, which has garnered the attention of foodies. “Although the dishes here are rather heavy on the pocket, customers need not worry about the taste! The wonderful vibe at this eatery, definitely compensates for it.”

The exquisite menu at Heng, continues to hit the high notes with traditional flavours. Vegetarians can start off with Sundubu Jjigae Soup (₹475) with soft tofu stew and Cheese Gimbap (₹575) – seaweed rice rolls filled with cream cheese and vegetables. Otherwise, Dubu Jorim (₹600) rilled tofu with spicy sauce is a must try too.

For non-vegetarians, Tempura Gimbap (₹675) – seaweed rice rolls filled with fried shrimp, omelet and vegetables and Japchae (₹650) – sweet potato starch noodles stir fried with chicken/pork/prawns, are absolute winners.

The best part you ask? The Korean Barbeque Bapsang (above ₹1000), that Heng Bok lays out! A protein of choice, wrapped in spices and dipping sauces, is served with condiments, that are not too usual. And of course, this is a dish that we would be trying again!

They also have a range of beers, wines, and cocktails to wash it all down. But if confused about what to order, choose Heng’s Sojo Bombs (₹600), where a shot of soju is dropped into a glass of beer – giving it a playful frizz! The visual really enhances the whole dining experience and we’re here for it.

Knock Knock

Further, Heng Bok has introduced weekday Korean brunches, from 12 noon to 3 PM, which puts forward a variety of flavours – that cannot be missed! So, if you’re looking for ways to spend a memorable day with bae over good food, Heng Bok is here for you. Reach out to 7400238737 to book a table today and follow Heng’s Instagram for more updates.
