Bandra is experiencing heavy traffic congestion as New Year’s Eve approaches, with overcrowding and illegal parking causing major jams. On Christmas Eve, approximately 30,000 people flocked to Bandra Reclamation and Carter Road, to enjoy the festive lighting displays, but the lack of parking facilities forced many to park illegally on the highway, creating chaos.

According to a report by Mid-day, traffic cops issued e-challans to 479 vehicles for illegal double and triple-row parking. Visitors also contributed to the traffic congestion by stopping on the road to take selfies, further blocking the flow of traffic. The ongoing construction at Lucky Junction has only made the traffic woes worse. On top of that, the influx of visitors heading to Bandra Wonderland for the festivities, combined with large crowds at local cafes, has created complete chaos in the area.

The police have issued advisories recommending alternative routes, particularly around MSRDC and Reclamation Road. The southbound stretch of Reclamation Road from Zencda Point to MSRDC will remain closed, with visitors advised to plan their trips accordingly. Traffic police have advised caution as congestion is expected to persist until January 1.
