The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on September 28, the same day as the Asia Cup final, to elect a new set of office-bearers for the next three years. The agenda includes elections for the top posts of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Major decisions await at BCCI’s AGM

The AGM agenda also includes reconstituting the Apex Council, along with the IPL and Women’s Premier League Governing Councils, and appointing an Ombudsman, Ethics Officer, and various committees. While secretary Devajit Saikia, treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia, and joint secretary Rohan Desai are tipped to continue, the posts of president and vice-president remain wide open. Acting president Rajeev Shukla is seen as a strong contender for elevation, though names of former cricketers are also being discussed in keeping with recent practice.

The outcome of the elections could also affect the IPL chairmanship, currently held by Arun Dhumal, whose eligibility depends on whether his role counts as that of an office-bearer. With big decisions pending, this AGM is set to shape the direction of both Indian cricket administration and the country’s most lucrative sporting league.
