Equipped with Kavach tech, Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express is now operational

The new Vande Bharat Express will cover the 520 km Mumbai-Gandhinagar distance in 6.20 hours.

India's 3rd Vande Bharat Express was flagged off from the Gandhinagar Capital railway station, today. The new Vande Bharat Express is said to be the upgraded version of its predecessor. Equipped with superior amenities, it is a semi-high speed train which will run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar route, covering the distance in just 6.20 hours.

Vande Bharat Express train schedule

Following the launch, the regular run of the Vande Bharat train is scheduled October 1st onwards, for which the railway board has updated the schedule.

As per the schedule, the Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 520 km in 6.20 hours and will halt at three stations between Mumbai and Gandhinagar.

Train no. 20901 Vande Bharat Express will depart from Mumbai Central at 6:10 am

  • It will make its first stoppage at Surat at 8:50 am.

  • The train will reach Vadodara at 10:20 am.

  • The third halt will be at Ahmedabad at 11:35 am.

  • The train will reach its final destination, Gandhinagar Capital at 12:30 pm.

On its return journey, train no. 29902 Vande Bharat Express will depart from Gandhinagar Central at 2:05 pm.

  • The first stoppage of the train at Ahmedabad railway station is scheduled at 2:40 pm.

  • It will further reach Vadodara at 4:00 pm.

  • The train will then reach Surat at 5:40 pm.

  • It will conclude its journey with a final halt at Mumbai Central scheduled at 8:35 pm.

What are the additional upgrades in the new Vande Bharat Express?

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) which is responsible for the manufacturing of Vande Bharat trains has made new advancements in the coaches, as per the instructions of the Railway Ministry.

Reportedly, the new changes include a state-of-the-art, Train Collision Avoidance System which is being termed as 'Kavach technology'. It is also equipped with safety features including an advanced fire safety system and CCTV cameras.

Furthermore, the coaches of the train are equipped with superior amenities to facilitate convenience and comfort. These include recliner seats, wider windows, superior suspension system, Divyang facility washrooms, automatic doors in AC coaches and reduced weight to facilitate extra comfort even at higher speeds.
