The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is powering up sustainable travel by installing EV charging stations at 49 resorts across the state including in Mumbai, Pune, and other key destinations. The initiative, aimed at promoting eco-friendly tourism, has already begun with four charging points at Nashik’s scenic Gangapur Dam resorts.

Each site will be equipped with two charging units, capable of powering up to four electric vehicles at once. The infrastructure will be managed by private operators under 10-year leases, ensuring long-term maintenance and efficiency. The charging stations will be strategically distributed across Maharashtra, with Nagpur receiving the highest allocation (13), followed by Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg (10 each), Pune (9), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (7), Mumbai (6), and additional stations in Nashik at Bhandardara and Shirdi.

With bids opening June 5, MTDC’s move supports Maharashtra’s push for electric mobility, reducing travel emissions while enhancing tourist convenience. As EVs surge in cities like Mumbai and Pune, this network promises smoother getaways for eco-conscious explorers.
