The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) which is presently working on the construction of the new Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Line 3 corridor, has now released a new update regarding the ongoing work.
Reportedly, most of the tunnelling work along the 33.5 km long corridor was completed back in November 2022. With this, the corporation is looking forward to kickstart the first phase of Metro Line-3 from Aarey to BKC, this year. Furthermore, MMRC also received all the eight coaches of the second train on December 31 which will be assembled and put to trial runs soon.

The upcoming Metro Line 3 will be a 33.5 km long underground corridor running along Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ. This line will include a total of 27 key stations, out of which 26 will be underground.
The Metro Line 3 would provide access between Mumbai’s key financial hubs including Nariman Point, Bandra-Kurla-Complex, Fort, Worli, Lower Parel, Goregaon, etc and will also connect these points to the CSMIA Airport of Mumbai. With this, line 3 will also connect Mumbai’s two significant heritage stations i.e. CSTM and Churchgate.
Presently, MMRC has completed the entire tunnelling of the 54.5 km long (up and down line) corridor and 50 per cent of track laying work has also been completed.
