Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Mumbai's GSB Seva Mandal secures record ₹474.46 cr insurance
Mumbai’s Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Seva Mandal, touted as India's richest Ganesh mandal, has secured a ₹474.46 crore insurance cover for its five-day Ganeshotsav celebrations at King’s Circle, Sion. The record cover mirrors the scale of devotion and is befitting of India’s Financial Capital. Last year, the Seva Mandal had obtained a ₹400.58 crore insurance cover, safeguarding the idol’s gold and silver ornaments as well as protection against fire and accidents involving volunteers.
GSB Seva Mandal's record-breaking insurance cover
The policy, one of the largest ever for a religious festival, safeguards both faith and logistics. The mandal’s iconic Ganesh idol will be adorned with over 69 kg of gold ornaments and 336 kg of silver, together insured at ₹67.03 crore.
The bulk of the cover, a staggering ₹375 crore, is dedicated to personal accident insurance for priests, volunteers, cooks, footwear stall workers, valets and security staff. Another ₹30 crore is earmarked for public liability insurance, protecting devotees and pandal infrastructure. Additional provisions include fire and special peril cover for furniture, fixtures, digital assets and festival materials.
Mandal’s mission beyond spectacle
Marking its 71st year of Ganeshotsav, the GSB Seva Mandal continues to stand out for both scale and social contribution. “Every year, we extend support to the weaker sections of society by funding education and fostering growth", said Chairman Amit Pai, underlining the Mandal’s mission beyond spectacle.
In a city where devotion is inseparable from display, the colossal insurance reflects Mumbai’s knack for blending tradition with precision planning. For the millions heading to King’s Circle, Ganeshotsav will offer not just splendour and faith. It will offer the rare comfort of knowing even the gods come fully insured in the Financial Capital.
