Houseful for Chhatrapati! Bharat Gaurav Express departs from Mumbai with 100% booking, details
Marking the 351st anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation, the Bharat Gaurav Train was flagged off from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, on June 9, 2025. The five-day rail journey, themed around ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & the Glorious Maratha Circuit’, will take travellers through historic sites linked to the Maratha ruler's life and legacy.
The itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Mangaon for Raigad Fort; overnight in Pune
Day 2: Visit Lal Mahal, Kasba Ganpati, and Shivsrushti; stay in Pune
Day 3: Tour Shivneri Fort and Bhimashankar temple; return to Pune
Day 4: Explore Pratapgad Fort in Satara; head to Kolhapur
Day 5: Visit Mahalakshmi Temple and Panhala Fort
Day 6: Return journey to Mumbai
The tour package covers train travel, hotel accommodation, vegetarian meals, sightseeing, local transfers, insurance, and the services of travel escorts.
Youth lead the way on sold-out maiden journey
Central Railway officials reported that the inaugural run of Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is fully booked with 710 passengers on board, 80% of whom are under the age of 40, an indication of rising youth interest in historical tourism. As per the report, all seats across Economy (Sleeper - ₹13,155), Comfort (3AC - ₹19,840), and Superior (2AC - ₹27,365) categories were sold out.
