The global luxury real estate market is experiencing an unprecedented boom, with property values rising rapidly in major cities worldwide. Among key players, India’s metropolitan hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are solidifying their presence on the global luxury stage. But just how much prime real estate in Mumbai can 1 million USD buy in these cities? Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2025 reveals interesting insights.
In the global rankings, Mumbai holds the 21st spot, while Delhi takes 18th place and Bengaluru follows at 40th.
Space for 1 million USD in Indian cities
In Mumbai, 1 million USD will only secure you 99 square metres of property. Meanwhile, Delhi and Bengaluru offer significantly more for the same price—208 sq m and 370 sq m, respectively. This stark contrast highlights a 2.6% decline in Mumbai’s available space over the past decade. In comparison, Delhi and Bengaluru have seen an increase in space over the same period, with a rise of 11% and 9%, respectively.
International cities in the global luxury race
Looking beyond India, Monaco remains the world’s most expensive city, where USD 1 million will only buy you a mere 19 sq m. Hong Kong and Singapore offer slightly more—22 sq m and 32 sq m, respectively. Globally, the Prime International Residential Index (PIRI 100) saw an average price increase of 3.6% in 2024, with cities like Seoul and Manila leading the charge for YoY price growth.
