India's first LNG fuel-powered bus launched in Maharashtra

To fight the rising diesel prices and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

In a bid to cope with the surging diesel prices while also reducing carbon emissions, India's first LNG fuel-powered bus was inaugurated in Maharashtra, on Friday. The said bus has been converted from diesel and is part of the larger initiative which will see 5,000 MSRTC diesel buses being converted into LNG powered buses in several phases.

MSRTC further stated in the release that 34% of all its expenditure is on diesel, which goes in maintaining its fleet of 16,000 buses. With this new initiative, in collaboration with M/s Kings Gas, MSRTC aims to reduce pollution by 10% and cut on costs significantly.

Furthermore, MSRTC plans to establish up to 90 LNG distribution facilities across several depots in the state.
