A dedicated Flood Rescue Team trained in Pune

As per reports, the dedicated Railway Flood Rescue Team, consisting of 14 personnel, were trained at the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Pune. These personnel will be placed in flood-prone areas in Mumbai. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has also been circulated among them, to ensure well-versed uniform protocol.

A mock drill was conducted on March 10 at the Railway Dam in Palasdhari, to monitor team’s preparedness and further train them to practice rescue operations.

Additonally, plans are in place to position 3 disaster management teams, each comprising 15 RPF officers and 2 drones managed by 4 specialised personnel, to monitor every on-ground flood activity. Their presence will be instrumental in providing timely assistance to affected passengers.
