The recent spells of moderate to strong downpours in Mumbai are all set to get even more intense in the next 48 hours. In Mumbai and Central Maharashtra, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain for the next two days, with some areas expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall.

Southwest Monsoon is gradually intensifying

After a slight delay, southwest monsoon is gradually progressing and covering more and more regions. The weather department has also spotted the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Kutch region in Gujarat.

In addition to that, a low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal region has been identified as the primary reason for the expected heavy downpour in Mumbai and Coastal Karnataka in the next 48 hours.

Monsoon hit Mumbai on Sunday; 86mm of rainfall recorded

It is noteworthy that the Maximum City witnessed 86mm of rainfall on Sunday itself, after monsoon hit Mumbai and Delhi at the same time. Now, the showers are all set to get more intense, leading to possible water-logging in certain areas. Furthermore, residents have been advised to stay prepared with umbrellas and raincoats as Mumbai monsoons are set to lash out.
