The new bridge near Mumbai suburban's Bhayandar railway station will combat the challenge of overcrowding

To ensure passenger safety near Bhayandar Railway station, Western Railways has constructed a new Foot over Bridge (FoB) which has been made operational for the public since June 3, 2022. The bridge is made up of Stainless Steel and is the first of its kind in the Western Rail division. The FoB is approximately 65m long and 10m wide with gradual slopes, making it convenient for passengers.

The bridge is made up of IRSM-44-M Grade Stainless Steel that contains 10-12% of chromium, making it suitable for coastal area projects. The type of steel used ensures low maintenance and life cycle cost. Additionally, these efforts will go a long way to combat the problem of overcrowding near the station, resulting in a reduction in the number of accidents.
