To empower women, the State Government has announced free higher education for girls from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), with family income of 8 LPA or less. Moreover, a decision was also made to waive tuition and exams fees for orphan students, both male and female. Set to commence from the academic year 2024-25, these initiatives are projected to incur costs amounting to ₹906 crore.

According to a Government Resolution (GR), female students seeking admission to recognised vocational courses via the Centralised Admission Process in government colleges, aided private colleges, semi-aided private colleges, non-aided colleges, polytechnics, autonomous government universities, and open universities will benefit from this scheme. The covered disciplines span higher and technical education, medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, animal husbandry, pisciculture, and dairy development departments.

New admissions as well students currently pursuing their education degree will also be eligible for the scheme. Notably, students enrolled in private autonomous and those admitted through management or institutional quotas, will not qualify for this scheme.
