Maharashtra government has announced public holiday on December 6 to mark Mahaparinirvan Diwas, honouring Dr BR Ambedkar. The holiday will apply to all government and semi-government offices in Mumbai, as per a 1996 General Administration Department circular.

Mumbai traditionally observes local holidays on Anant Chaturdashi and Gopalkala (Dahi Handi) since 2007. This will be the region’s third local holiday in 2024.

Further, to accommodate the rush of travellers, Central Railway will operate 12 additional suburban special trains on the midnight of Thursday-Friday. Check out details below!
