Metro services in Mumbai shut down along Dahanukarwadi - Aarey stretch on Jan 8

Integration work on Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 to be conducted on January 8, 2023, affecting metro services.

Following the integration work on Metro lines 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar) and Metro Line 7 (Dahisar E to Andheri E), metro services in Mumbai will be affected, announced Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Metro services on Phase 1, from Aarey to Dhanukarwadi will remain shut on January 8 between 06:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The 18.6 KM long, Metro Line 2A from Dahisar to DN Nagar with 17 stations connects Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova), the ongoing Metro Lines 2B (DN Nagar to Mandale) and the Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli) as well as Metro Line Line 7.

MMRDA to integrate systems of both lines before inauguration

Before inaugurating the first Phase, MMRDA will carry out drills to integrate systems such as public announcement systems, passenger information display systems, rolling stock with signaling capabilities, telecom and platform screen doors, among others. For this, the operational corridors between Dahnukarwadi and Aarey will have to be closed.

Once fully operational, these two corridors will carry as many as 3 lakh people each day. These lines are expected to carry over 11 lakh passengers in a day by 2031.

The first phase of Line 7 and Line 2A was launched in April, 2022. Earlier this week, the MMRDA announced that the Metro 2A and 7 will be operational soon for the public soon.
