Mumbai is slipping deeper into a steady monsoon phase, with the IMD forecasting regular rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph across the city and the wider MMR over the next few days. The week opened with strong early-morning showers, as several parts of Mumbai woke up to sudden bursts of rain and thunder on Monday. Some areas witnessed short but intense spells that quickly set the tone for an active weather week ahead.
According to the IMD, this active weather pattern is expected to persist through the week, with isolated heavy rainfall likely on Tuesday and Wednesday. Officials have also said that conditions remain favourable for the southwest monsoon to strengthen further, pushing Mumbai into a more consistent and widespread rainy spell.
Thane and Raigad are expected to witness similar conditions, including lightning activity and gusty winds of up to 50 kmph in some pockets.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. As the monsoon gathers momentum, Mumbaikars are advised to plan their commutes accordingly and stay updated on weather advisories.
