Mumbai Airport's 2024 Summer Schedule to register 8% weekly surge in flight movements

The summer schedule will see a total of 6,657 weekly flight movements.

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is gearing up for a bustling summer schedule in 2024, with an anticipated 8% increase in weekly flight movements compared to the previous year. Set to commence from March 31 and extend until October 26, the summer program will see a total of 6,657 weekly flight movements, up from 6,148 in 2023.

Improved connectivity with enhanced flight schedule

According to CSMIA authorities, daily movements will spike to 951, reflecting a significant rise from 882 in the previous summer. This upsurge is poised to benefit both domestic and international travellers, with 682 daily flights serving domestic routes and 269 catering to international destinations.

Key airlines contributing to this surge include IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara, offering 1,255, 539, and 519 weekly departures, respectively. Notable increases in flight frequencies are earmarked for destinations like Delhi, Srinagar, Ayodhya, and Kolkata.

Moreover, to meet the growing demand and enhance connectivity, airlines are introducing new routes. Vistara, for instance, will operate five weekly flights to Paris and daily flights to Hanoi. Additionally, Akasa Air and Uzbekistan Airways will offer four and two weekly flights to Doha and Tashkent, respectively.

Despite recent restrictions imposed by the Civil Aviation Ministry to alleviate congestion, CSMIA remains steadfast in its commitment to efficient operations and passenger satisfaction. Infrastructural upgrades and streamlined scheduling aim to ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers during the upcoming summer season.
