Mumbai deploys 21,000 cops, AI & drones for Ganesh Visarjan on Sept 6
Ahead of the Anant Chaturdashi celebrations on September 6, Mumbai is ramping up security with the deployment of over 21,000 police personnel to ensure safe and smooth idol immersions. The force will include 12 additional commissioners, 40 deputy commissioners, 61 assistant commissioners, 3,000 officers, and 18,000 police staff, all working together to manage the large crowds and festivities.
AI to assist with traffic and crowd management
For the first time, artificial intelligence will assist with route management and traffic updates during Ganesh Visarjan, helping to efficiently manage the massive crowds and processions. To ensure safety, 10,000 CCTV cameras and drones will monitor the event, with private drone flights strictly prohibited. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collaborated with the police, and lifeguards will be stationed at immersion sites.
Over 6,500 community Ganesh idols and 1.75 lakh household idols will be immersed at various locations, including beaches, artificial lakes, and other water bodies across Mumbai.
