Mumbai Metro 3: Phase 2 of Aqua Line, linking BKC and Cuffe Parade, to start operations by May 2025
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) has announced plans to start operations of Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line)'s second phase, connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Cuffe Parade, by May 2025. Earlier, March 2025 was set c.
This 33.5-km underground corridor, stretching from Colaba to SEEPZ, will feature 27 stations with 26 located underground.
Connecting BKC to Cuffe Parade with new walkway plans
Following the launch of the first phase connecting Aarey Colony to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on October 7, the upcoming segment will link BKC to Cuffe Parade. MMRCL officials report that over 90% of the second phase is complete, with only a few stations like Girgaon and Acharya Atre Chowk requiring additional attention. Thus, the project launch has been rescheduled to May, moving from the previously planned target of March.
To enhance passenger convenience, MMRCL is also developing a temporary walkway connecting Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with the Metro 3 station. This solution will address current connectivity challenges until Metro Line 7A's T2 station becomes operational in December 2026.
