Get ready to be swept away by the glitz and glamour of Bollywood right in Mumbai’s buzzing Bandra locality! A new project to showcase the rich history of Indian cinema will grace the underbelly of Metro Line 2B, between ESIC Nagar and Bandra, at a cost of approximately ₹250 crore. This initiative aims to transform the spaces between 355 pillars across seven stations on the route, into a vibrant homage to Bollywood.

Bollywood’s Early Years & Golden Age to be showcased

The project will unfold in two parts, the early years of Bollywood from 1913 to 1939 and the Golden Age from 1952 to 2023. MMRDA has enlisted a team of experts to craft a comprehensive master plan, utilising state-of-the-art technology to narrate Bollywood’s evolution.

Scheduled to commence in the second week of March, the thematic installations will seamlessly integrate with ongoing metro infrastructure developments. Additionally, plans include a Bollywood-themed “Happy Street” event on Sundays, with portions of the road closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate activities celebrating the cinematic heritage.

When completed, this initiative would not only enhance the area’s beauty but also serve as a significant tourist attraction, reaffirming Bandra’s status as the Queen of Mumbai suburbs. Further, iconic Mumbai landmarks like Bandra Fort, Bandstand, Mount Mary Church in the area, may add to the tourist footfall as well.
